Jollibee Themed Birthday Party

My son loves the Jollibee mascot so much! Everything we pass by a Jollibee restuarant or even just a Jollibee billboard he will clap and wave his hands really fast and shout Jollibee, Jollibee, Jollibee matched with a very wide grin. Hence,we decided to celebrate his 2nd birthday party at a Jollibee restuarant .

Below are the preparations I did and some of my ideas for the party which will be held on January next year.

1.  We  had a pre-birthday party photos session in which  my son, Basti, posed in a party mood with his Jollibee stuffed toy which we featured in the party invitation.

2. Then we collected some of his cute photos and have a customized party guestbook printed where the guests can write their messages to Basti during the party.

3. Then, we have some of his pre-birthday photo shoot pictures printed on a sintra board to be displayed on the windows of the party venue as a customized decor. These sticker on sintra party decors are very good replacements for customized tarpulins which will be trashed after the party because these  sintra decors (which are more presentable and don’t smell like paint unlike tarpulins) can be displayed at home.

4. The guests will be welcomed by Basti’s sintra cut-out which can also be displayed at home after the party. We will actually re-use the customized sintra board standee we used in Basti’s party last year to save on cost (since Basti looks almost the same as last year :)

5. The Jolly Town inspired cake will be decorated with arch balloons.

6. The  tables will be decorated with kiddie placemats and hats featuing Jollibee characters such as Hetti (a  Spaghetti inspired mascot).

7. The party venue will be decorated with balloons on the ceiling and on the walls.

8.  Jollibee meals such as french fries, spaghetti, hamburger and chicken will be served to the guests.

9. And ofcourse, Jollibee (the mascot) will be there for a performance, meet and great and photo op.

10. To end the party, the celebrant will pop the balloons filled candies and other goodies.

11.  Loot bags featuring Jollibee characters will be distributed to the kids on their way out as well.

How to Teach your Kids about Jesus while going to Mass

Since kids are like sponges who keep on learning in the 1st 5 years of life, we parents, should make even our normal activities worthwhile learning experiences for them.

One of the normal weekly activities which we can make a venue for learning for kids is our Sunday mass celebration. We can teach them the story of the life of Jesus as we point to the Cruxifix and the different images in the Stations of the Cross displayed all over the church.

We can also retell to them the story of Mama Mary, Papa Joseph and the other saints displayed in the church.

We can also encourage our kids to participate in the Eucharistic Celebration by teaching them how to say “Amen” and how to do “Sign of the Cross” — Hi baby, this is how to do Sign of the Cross, point your forehed with your two fingers for “in the name of the Father”, point your chest for “of the Son” point your left and right shoulders for “of the Holy Spirt” and clap hands once for “Amen”.

So that our kids really feel that they are part of the mass celebration we can encourage them to follow what the other people in the church are doing during the mass such as stand, seat, kneel, hold hands during “Our Father”, say “peace” to other mass goers during  ”peace be with you” time.  We can also have them fall-in during communion time and explain to them that they can have communion when they are already on 10 years old.

Then, we can explain to them all about the passion, death and resurrection of Christ while the other people are taking their communion.

Indeed, going to mass with kids is one of the best ways to teach kids about Jesus Christ.

Minnie Mouse Themed B-day Party

My niece will celebrate her 1st birthday party and I’m helping her mom in planning a  Minnie Mouse Themed Party for her.  Below are some of my ideas:

For the birthday invite, I would like to have a picture invite featuring Minnie Mouse and the birthday celebrant.

Arch balloons and Minnie and Mickey Mouse standees will welcome the guests as they enter the party venue.

The table centerpieces will be decorated with Minnie Mouse mylar balloons with pink, purple and light blue pearlized balloons.

Aside from Minnie Mouse, the stage will showcase other Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck.

To be aligned with the Minnie Mouse party theme, the food table will be covered with pink and white polka dots table cloth.

The cake will feature Minnie Mouse and will be highlighted by acrh balloons as well.

To be aligned with the theme, cup cakes topped Mickey and Minnie Mouse figures will be served as desserts.

To make the party more fun, we can also add a chocolate fountain station, cotton station and icecream station and decorate with Minnie Mouse figure or polka dots design.

For the entertainment, Mickey and Minnie Mouse mascots could be there to perform a dance number and meet and greet with the guests.

To add spice to the party, the birthday celebrant can dress like Minnie Mouse as well.

There can also be a magic show to back-up the mascot dance segment.

Finally, for the party favors, you can give a Mickey and Minnie Mouse box full of candies and other stuffs with Mickey Mouse  and Minnie Mouse designs such as stickers, pad papers, pencils etc.
